![]() ![]() Avoid the Lunch & Dinner rush unless you have extra time on your hands. The quality of service you receive will depend almost entirely on how busy it is. Eventually they removed them off the ZMM-Denver menu, but as far as I know they are still available in their original glory at the other locations, as are the S-Tier CPR Dishes. They started using frozen potstickers from the store for a few months, unlike the other bao which are all handmade through every step. The franchise's famous potstickers used to be served at this location but they now lack the right personnel to make them. Pearl Meatballs, Pork Gua Bao, Dan Dan Mian, Veggie Noodles. Za Jiang Mian, Lu Ro Fan, Chicken Curry, Pork Shumai, Roast Duck Wonton Soup, Fried Veggie Gua Bao The restaurant has a diverse staff team and the recipes are almost all (80% authentic Chinese & Taiwanese, sourced from the family who started the franchise. (Formerly named Chimera) ZMM Denver serves only as what it is: pretty good Taiwanese cuisine that keeps to its roots for a cheap* price as far as downtown Denver goes. The food is good and you should try it, but if you're looking for the best they have to offer- I would recommend other locations owned by the family, such as the aforementioned boulder location or the new Dragonfly Noodle downtown. Essentially, it's a copy of the ZMM Boulder location with fewer or replaced recipes with many corners cut to keep the place profitable despite the building's high rent. ZMM Denver does not make its revenue through providing good service or by providing quality cooking. ZMM Denver is not a passion restaurant- it does not present the franchise's best work, and is simply a source of revenue for other more ambitious projects- though rightfully so, as the immediate Union Station region has become a bit of a mess unfit for these types of restaurants. While I cannot speak for the Boulder location, I have a long time of experience eating at ZMM Denver. Zoe Ma Ma Denver is the second restaurant of a family owned franchise starting in Boulder. Moreįirstly, I am not employed by ZMM Denver, I am not related to anyone in their employment, nor am I employed by any business in competition or in vicinity of them, nor do I have an incentive in writing this except for offering my advice. Overall - ignore Guy Fieri, find more flavorful food at a better price with better service elsewhere. If it were a tip I could have adjusted when the service failed to appear, but when you charge 15% when people are ordering there is no way to adjust. I did not see a single employee walking through the dining area the entire time I was there. As it turns out you order your food at the cashier, go find your own table and in our case clean it yourself, then you pick the food up when your buzzer goes off and you bus your own table after. I have no issues with service charges when they are actually linked to a service. One factor in that was an automatic 15% service charge. For three of us it came to more than $70. The food itself was good but not not particularly special and hence a bit disappointing to our admittedly high expectations. We tried this as it came with some interesting reviews and a claim that Guy Fieri rated it the best place in Denver. The dim sum dishes like the shu mai was just okay.Īll in all, I’d recommend this place if you’re looking for authentic Chinese food in downtown Denver. The chicken curry was also good and plentiful. The baos, however, were excellent - juicy and delicious. The pearl meatballs were a bit of a letdown, not having the five spice/white pepper taste that I am used to. While it tasted good, I would say that the food at Zoe Ma Ma was not amongst the best that I’ve had, but definitely a good option in a downtown area where it is near impossible to find tasty and authentic Chinese food. The sit-down area in the back is much nicer.īeing from the NYC area, I have access to some of the best Chinese food in the US. the tables look like they can be cleaned up, chairs and tables askew, some trash. When you first walk in, the area looks really shabby. The flavor of each dish was pretty authentic, and the staff are nice. Zoe Ma Ma offers a good option for Chinese food in a city with few options in the authentic Chinese food arena.
